Application

Three Simple Steps

• Step 1 - Prepare
  • Before applying to concrete or masonry surface; sweep, dust or wire brush to remove debris.
  • If efflorescence (white residue) is present, wash surface with a 20% solution of Muriatic Acid (1 part acid to 4 parts water), then rinse with clear water and allow to dry thoroughly before applying WOODS Concrete Water Holdout.

   

• Step 2 - Protect
  • Use any agreeable application method; brush, roller or spray. Apply liberally so as to flood surface to a maximum absorption as indicated by a run-down of 6 to 12 inches.
  • DO NOT allow product to "puddle" on horizontal surfaces.
  • Allow penetration for 5 minutes and then wipe up any excess product. If thorough saturation is obtained, one coat will give excellent water repellency.
  • Check periodically for water penetration to tell when it is time for another coat to be applied.

    Due to the varying porosity of difference masonry and concrete surfaces, coverage will range from 60 square feet per gallon on porous concrete to 300 square feet per gallon on natural stone veneer.

  • Allow surface to dry for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Clean Up: Clean hands and tools with soap and water.

Warning: This product will damage asphalt products (tar paper, asphalt driveways, composition shingles etc.) DO NOT apply to such areas.

• Step 3 - Preserve
  • Once or twice each year, check surface to see if water is penetrating. If so, apply another coat of WOODS Concrete Water Hold Out as per above.

   

Caution: This product will be damages if frozen. Store at temperatures above 5ºC.
